The Chess Garden by Brooks Hansen
This is a story inside a story. The outer story was a story of a life well lived and of education, prestige, and love. The inside story was a story of make believe. It was an interesting story. The author jumps between the two in a well thought out way, making the inner story a series of letters.
The story follows a doctor, from young to all grown up. It takes well placed detours into areas that help us understand the doctor as some things transpire in the story. I think the story did a good job of making the characters interesting. The story inside the story is like a fairytale type of story with things that can only be imagined.
This was a good book. I enjoyed reading it and finding out what was going to happen next.
This is one of the books in Daria’s Reading List that I’m working through, book by book.
