Lopez [l OH – p eh z]
NOUN
López is a surname of Spanish origin. It was originally a patronymic, meaning “Son of Lope”, Lope itself being a Spanish given name deriving from Latin lupus, meaning “wolf”. The surname is first attested in Old Castile in the heart of Spain, where the name originated in Visigothic times; however, the name is not of Germanic origin.
Short History:
It was 2003 and I was all about Apple. I had a student copy of Dreamweaver and I still like Fireworks even though Adobe killed it off. This was the time I would spend hours in IRC chat rooms and installing a bot script into mIRC to add extra functionality. I was getting along with HTML and them CSS came and I just couldn’t get it. I left content management to WordPress and styles to the build in templates (as evidenced by this page you’re looking at).
After starting college and stopping, I returned to college and chose the Electrical Technology Program that leads you to be an Electrician. I started working in the field.
In 2010 I took some real estate classes and took the exam and started as a salesperson in the state of California with Keller Williams. They talked a lot about branding yourself and that’s when I got the domain AgentLopez.com. After about a year I pivoted to property management with my girlfriend who would later become Mrs. Agent Lopez.
We left leave property management and I returned to full-time Electrician employment. I would always be following what is happening in general in computer and technology. A few times I would pick up a tutorial or listen to a tech podcast. I even attended a Twilio conference back in 2014, and again in 2020 (virtually). I also attended a Southern California Linux Expo a few years prior. I even made it to Las Vegas for a Defcon conference. I saw a talk from an employee from DreamHost.com and they’ve been my webhost ever since.
A the end of 2020 I made the choice to ‘Go For It!’. I quit my job to go full-time at Digital Crafts Coding Bootcamp which I started in February 2021. I am loving every minute of it. It’s taking the parts I thought I knew and really expanding them and most importantly, they’re showing me how the pieces fit together. I could not get that part from the tutorials.
I returned to being an electrician full time.
